CHURCH OF NORTH INDIA CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF INNOCENT CHRISTIANS IN PAKISTAN

The Most Revd. Dr. Philip P. Marandih, Moderator, Church of North India Synod, Mr. AlwanMasih, General Secretary, CNI Synod, Mr. PremMasih, Acting Treasurer, CNI Synod, in the Office Bearers meeting held on September 23, 2013 condemned the cowardly and dastardly act of the massacre of Christians inthe All Saints Church in Peshawar by suspected human bombs. Two suicide bombers on September 22, 2013 morning blew themselves up in theChurch in Pakistanís Peshawar city, when worshippers were coming out of the Church after offering Sunday service, killing at least 78 people and injuring more than 120. The Church is located in a densely populated area near a market and the explosion took place near the gate of the Church.

Christians make up about 4 per cent of Pakistanís 180 million populationsand normally keep a very low profile.

Our hearts go out to the affected, with our deepest condolences to the bereaved that have lost their loved ones, and also prayers for the physical healing of the injured. We join in prayers and expression of solidarity with the Christians in Pakistan who are time and again made to pay with their lives for putting their faith in Jesus Christ.
We urge upon the Government of Pakistan to bring the conspirators to book and take appropriate measures that such inhuman acts are not repeated in Pakistan by providing appropriate security for Christians and their places of worship.

The Church of North India is the largest Protestant Church in Northern India, with a membership of over 1.5 million spread across the whole of India, barring the four southern states.

MR. ALWAN MASIH
GENERAL SECRETARY,
